Renters deserve to be treated more fairly - and this is the start of making that happen
When Labor came into government, we inherited a rental crisis. Every day since then, we've fought to make renting fairer and more secure. It's going to make it easier for families in NSW to find a place to live, as well as better regulate landlords and real estate companies to improve transparency.
The NSW Labor Government has;
- Banned no-grounds evictions in NSW
- Stopped tenants from being charged for background checks when applying for a rental
- Made fee-free ways to pay rent mandatory
- Capped rent increases to just one per year
- Made it easier to have pets in rentals
Positive legislative reform has been a long time coming for renters across our state and we strive to work towards a fairer rental marketplace for both renters and owners in NSW.
