Notices of Motion

At the start of each Parliamentary sitting day, Members are given the opportunity to give notice of any general business motions they intend to move on a later day. A notice of motion proposes that the House do something, or express an opinion on a matter and sets out the words of the motion being moved.

Notices of Motion give Members an opportunity to move that the House take note of significant issues, recognise the efforts of constituents and local organisations, and call on the Government to take action.
