Dr MARJORIE O'NEILL (Coogee) — I congratulate Carole Schlessinger, Ruth Tofler-Riesel, and the rest of the team from Kids Giving Back for all of their work over the past years, and particularly during this pandemic. Kids Giving Back is a local charity in the Eastern Suburbs that provides children and their family members with unique opportunities to give back to their communities. The program runs for 6-18 year-olds and their families, and enables them to undertake practical and meaningful activities to assist vulnerable people in the community through work with charities. So far, more than 27,500 children and family members have volunteered, making and distributing over 100,000 meals to some of the most vulnerable members of our society. This program fosters a sense of community and belonging in our young people, and builds a sense of civic responsibility in so many children. I would like to again thank and congratulate Carole Schlessinger, Ruth Tofler-Riesel, and the rest of the team from Kids Giving Back for all of their hard work, and I would strongly encourage all children from our community to consider volunteering their time.
