The Minister for Transport and Roads, Andrew Constance MP, has refused to provide a timeline for the government’s commitment to reintroduce the 378 bus route.

In the Questions & Answers Paper No. 6, Dr Marjorie O’Neill asked the Minister “When will the Government re-establish the 378 bus route, following the commitment made during the 2019 State Election?”

The Minister responded, stating “A number of service improvements are planned… across Sydney, the Illawarra, Hunter and Central Coast over the next four years. This includes the re-introduction of route 378 Bronte to the CBD.”

The former member for Coogee promised that the service would be restored after the election, but Coogee residents will now have to wait up to four years for the service to be restored. This is not good enough and it makes clear that the government is ignoring the needs and voices of this community.

Quotes attributable to Dr Marjorie O’Neill MP, Member for Coogee:

“Once again, this government has been caught out misleading the people of Coogee by back-flipping on the promises they made during the 2019 election”

“Coogee residents will now have to wait up to four years before the 378 Bus Route is reintroduced, assuming the Berejiklian Government doesn’t backflip on that promise as well”

“After 5 years of disaster after disaster during the Light Rail debacle, and the Minister refusing to provide a timeline for the reintroduction of the 378 Bus Route or any details on the future of Eastern Suburbs bus routes after the Light Rail opens, it’s clear that the Berejiklian Government has absolutely no plan for public transport in the Eastern Suburbs”
